‘Ere? Who’s this Chantelle Brader?’ I hear you say.
Well, she’s the lass who played that ‘evil’ chick Susannah in The Tribe, one of the Nomads, who kidnapped Dal and Sasha. They thought they were cannibals, only they turned out to be slave traders!
You can read the interview here. In the interview Chantelle takes a look back pretty much exactly 10 years and speaks about her character on The Tribe, what it was like to play such a duplicitous character, her thoughts on the issues dealt with in the show and what it was like working on the show, albeit for a brief time.
Those of you who visit Chantelle’s blog or are familiar with her on facebook may have already read it. I hope you enjoy it, as an insight into one of the many bit players of The Tribe. Feel free to post your views in the comment box below. Hopefully there’ll be more interviews up soon.
Chantelle has more recently featured in ‘The Wayfarer’ a documentary, by Jess Firth, about the Baha’i religion. More info and the trailer about the documentary can be found here and here. The German translation for the interview is here.
And finally, Happy New Year everyone!!!
Another awesome video featuring Dwayne Cameron has appeared on the video channel by consciousspace. It lacks speech, but the music and visuals are great! You can view it below…
It appears to have been filmed in 2007 and edited/shown in 2008. A bit more info and a .mov download of it is here.
The video also featured Astra Mclaren and Brian Manthenga, was directed and edited by Benjamin Rood, photography by Richard Harling.
PS, hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Shortland Street hotty Owen Black, who plays Ethan Pierce, has rated Beth’s kissing skills from pash scene’s he’s had with her on the show…
Beth and I had a very good working relationship. One of the first scenes we had was a big pashing scene, and it can be difficult with a complete stranger, but Beth is a great actress and we had a lot of fun.
Beth Allen plays the character Brooke Freeman. There’s a little more in the article where Owen mentions Beth, it has been pasted below, the full article can be read here. Continue reading…
Campbell Live, a current affairs news programme broadcast in New Zealand, is headed by John Campbell. On 19th December the show had an Outrageous Fortune special featuring cast interviews, behind the scene stuff as well as music.
Antonia Prebble, who plays Loretta West in the much loved drama, was interviewed with fellow Westies Siobhan Marshall (Pascalle West) and Frank Whitten (Ted West). Antonia talked about working on the show and the character Loretta. The interview was held on set in the Rusty Nail Tavern – a local hot spot in the show.
The video clip of Antonia’s interview is on youTube here.
Previously I mentioned Michelle Ang was in the TVNZ series The Sitting where artist Stephen Martyn Welch paints famous New Zealanders. Artwork featured in the TV series is now on display at The New Zealand Portrait Gallery, I’ve found a pic featuring Michelle’s portrait and attached it.
Full details of the event are as follows: NZ Portrait Gallery, Shed 11, Wellington Waterfront 18 December 2008 to 1 February 2009 10.30am – 4.30pm. Running in conjunction with TVNZ6, SOCA gallery and Top Shelf Productions, Queen’s Wharf, Wellington Waterfront. Enquires (04) 4728874
How this escaped me I don’t know. Turns out in August Vicky Rodewyk (Gel in The Tribe 5) had a guest cast role in Power Rangers Jungle Fury, the current running series of the Power Rangers arc. She starred in the role of Gabby, one of those ‘one-off’ characters, she played the niece to Master Phant (the Elephant Ranger).
So, the storyline is Gabby is training in dance with Lily – the Yellow Ranger (played by Anna Hutchison)… Gabby ends up being talked into entering a dance competition by Lily and she ends up winning second place. Lily though missed her performance at the competition. (The links are to the scenes on youTube).
With her dancing skills and flexibility, who knows, maybe Vicky will join Ari in Power Rangers R.P.M (Racing Performance Machines) as previously some actors with minor roles in PR later became major players in future seasons… Well it happened with Dwayne Cameron and Antonia Prebble!
Vicky Rodewyk featured in Power Rangers : Jungle Fury : Episode 23 : Fear And Phantoms. With thanks to Jebrill for the lead, cheers.
There’s a low quality video on youTube of the performance, it’s below.
The person was filming the video screen which was broadcasting the show.
The track was What Time Is It? from the High School Musical 2 Soundtrack. It was performed by Meryl Cassie, Drew Neemia, Catherine Campion, Anthony Utama, Cameron Douglas & Jodie Clarke. You can definitely make out Meryl in the vid, she’s wearing the pink top.
The event was Coca-Cola’s Christmas In The Park concert, held in Auckland’s Domain park on 13th December 2008. More info on the event is here. Antonia Prebble also performed at the concert.
I have manage to find only two photo’s of Antonia Prebble performing at this years Chritmas In The Park. There are no Photos of Meryl at this Stage. Photo’s from Getty Images.
[EDIT: 17Dec08] I’ve updated the photos to ones without watermarks – Clare.
Okay, you’re probably bored of the blog by now, but who cares! I’m bored in my office, so I’m searching the web… And I found pics of the girls on the catwalk!
Beth Allen is wearing a design by Hailwood, the girl always looks fantastic in those sequinned numbers. Meanwhile Antonia Prebble was sporting a design by WORLD. Get it, she’s sporting it? Because it’s sports wear… Oh never mind. Antonia was accessorised with a stunning Swarovski crystal-encrusted soccer ball also by WORLD, or maybe the ball was accessorised by the Prebble? Either way it’s a shame the photo is poor quality.
Yeah the photos are crappy in quality, you may find better ones given time, but this is it, I don’t think I’ll be posting anything more to do with the adiCouture ’08 KidsCan fashion show.
Case closed. Images thanks to Fashion NZ.
Edit: I’ve just updated the page and added the images released by KidsCan.
The girls have both been named, in the final line up, as performer’s for Coca-Cola’s Christmas In The Park ’08. The event is in Auckland on 13th December.
What will they sing?
Meryl Cassie will be performing What Time Is It? (from High School Musical) with Drew Neemia, Catherine Campion, Anthony Utama, Cameron Douglas & Jodie Clarke. She features in the first act starting from 7.30pm. Btw, Drew Neemia guest starred in The Tribe series 3 as the trader Fisheye.
Antonia Prebble will be performing Twist And Shout with Shane Cortese, Tammy Davis, Siobhan Marshall, & D.I.V.A. They perform in the second act which commences at 9pm.
Out of the two I have to say Meryl’s is the one I’d love to see! Hope the girl does good. More info can be found on the website here and the souvenir programme for the show here which I’ve mirrored here.
