There is a lovely feature from New Zealand’s Woman’s Weekly about friendship. Amongst the friends who are featured in the article are Beth Allen and Antonia Prebble. They of course starred alongside each other in The Tribe as Amber and Trudy, and since then have also been on screen together in Outrageous Fortune. Find out more about their friendship that began on working on The Tribe here or read the article below.
Here’s a sweet extract from Beth on Antonia:
I struggled for a while in my early twenties, when I was doing less interesting jobs and not much acting, and Antonia would tell me, ‘It will definitely happen for you’. She never questioned it. That was tremendously comforting.
Big thanks to Jebrill of Tribe-Cast.com for posting the article on Twitter. Article is dated 14th August 2009. Continue reading…
Last week there was an article on the Shortland Street website where the cast talked about their Father’s for a NZ Father’s Day special… Beth Allen (Brooke Freeman in Shorty/Tribe’s Amber) talked about her pops who definitely sounds like a top bloke, the article is here and pasted below. Also on the Shorty website were a few lovely pics of Fleur Saville (Libby Jeffries in Shorty/Tribe 5′s Ruby) posing on a new set design, check the pics out here and here.
And just a final bit of news, Sally Martin, who had a brief role in series 4 of The Tribe as ‘paid for bimbo’ Kandy, is joining the cast of Shortland Street. I’m not sure if she will be a permanent fixture though. Her most well known character to date is the Blue Wind Ranger, Tori Hanson, in Power Rangers Ninja Storm. Continue reading…
Bevin Linkhorn, Ned in The Tribe, will be in a team taking part in the two day play 2009 competition this September.
His team have 48 hours to prepare a 10 minute play which will be performed at the Bats theatre in Auckland. Previously Bevin has been a judge at the event, this time round he will be a competitor, good luck to you Bevin!
More info can be found here.

Check out Lucas Hayward (Sammy from The Tribe 4 and 5) in a short video entitled Knife Life Notebook a from his YouTube channel (while you’re there, why not subscribe?). I believe he is going as Lukas Hayward as a screen name.
It might not be a high quality production, but given the tight time constraints and budget, it’s not that bad. And kudos for using Kings Of Leon. Could he be another Tribe cast film maker in the making? Me thinks so. Oh and he is looking pretty hot!
Thanks to the twitters of Jebrill (Tribe-Cast.com) and Scobs2 for the info (more twitterer’s to check out!)
Miriama Smith has joined other New Zealand celebs like Jaquie Brown and Madeleine Sami to raise money for Breast Cancer Research Trust. There is an interview with Antonia Prebble talking about her acting career to date, Outrageous Fortune and, uhm, having braces. It is an interesting interview if you’re a fan you will definitely enjoy it!
Click here to check it out.
There is a mention early in the interview about The Tribe and how she has done five years on that series before the current five series run she has done on Outrageous Fortune. Let’s just hope OF doesn’t go out the same way The Tribe did! With thanks to AntoniaPrebble.com for the info.
Nick Miller will be playing a role as a Police Officer in Spies & Lies, which stars Antonia Prebble in a lead role. Hopefully they’ll be in a few scenes together – one hopes! Spies & Lies is a TV movie “set in 1942 wartime New Zealand”.
Jacob Tomuri meanwhile is going strong in his career as a stunt performer. He is doing stunt work in the forthcoming TV epic Spartacus: Blood and Sand made by Starz which stars top NZ star Lucy Lawless in it. Jacob also did stunt work in the recently released Ashley Tisdale film Aliens in the Attic and Peter Jacksons future film release The Lovely Bones.
Nick Miller and Jacob Tomuri are also credited in James Cameron future epic release Avatar.

The Tribe cast are a busy bunch, hard to keep up with, so here’s a bit of old news… On June 26th and 27th 2009 Hawke’s Bay held the finals for their Superstar contest, which gives an opportunity for local youngers to get a chance in the limelight and sing, dance and perform in front of a live audience and compete for the title of Hawke’s Bay’s Superstar! Meryl Cassie (The Tribe’s Ebony) is no stranger to the stage and was at the event to judge the talent!
Hawke’s Bay is a region in New Zealand’s North Island, most famous for wine. But reading about this event it seems like a great community to be part of… The Superstar contest is organised by the Bay City Outreach Centre and is supported by local primary schools, intermediate schools and businesses. You can read up more on the event here and also see the winners of the contest.
Huge thanks to the Bay City Outreach Centre for providing the pics and info. May they continue their good work in the HB community for a long time to come.
Next stop for Meryl? Well, she’s apparently getting ready for some up-coming performances… So watch this space! Also the P-Money music video Everything which features Meryl in it is currently rising up the MTV Dance playlist in the UK, if you have that channel check it out!
Tom Hern joined Nick Paris, NZ International Film Festival organiser, on Good Living, presented by Megan Banks. They talked about I’m Not Harry Jenson, showing a clip from the movie. Interview was broadcast on 10th August 2009. Check it out:

Video from the TribeCastCom YouTube channel. Post has been back dated.

There’s an interview with Antonia Prebble about filming sex scenes in Outrageous Fortune from The Edge’s Morning Madhouse. In particular wether any of the guys get *overly excited* during the scenes! Well she definitely keeps it professional in such situations. Kudos to her!
The interview was on the 28th July, the video YouTubed on 6th August. [edit] from AP.com: you can download the full interview in MP3 format, details here.
