Jennyfer Jewell has long been a favourite actress of mine since seeing her in The Tribe as Ellie [aswell as being in the Enid Blyton TV series]. So, imagine my excitement at seeing something new featuring Jennyfer Jewell!
In the short film The Visitor, Jennyfer plays the role of a mother, whos daughter is being visited by an imaginary friend… In comes a priest for an exorcism… Check it out:
I am totally loving the long hair! The short film was submitted for the V 48HOURS short film festival in New Zealand, though the video is the rough cut. The film was filmed the weekend of 16-18th April 2010. I do think she is still too young for a mother role – I guess she’d make a good M.I.L.F/’yummy mummy’ perhaps? But anyhows, I do hope to see more of Jen Jewell in the future, whether it’s Jennifer Jewell or Jennyfer ;)
The Visitor was directed by Tomoko Uryu. Featuring: Te Ao O Awhero Little as Whetu, Jennifer Jewell as Mother, Angeline Quick as Sydney Mason and Andre Munroe as the priest.
Ari Boyland (aka KC in The Tribe), took part in the V 48HOURS 2010 – a short film festival. In the short film Chicane, directed by Alastair Tye Samson, Ari Boyland plays the character Brent. Check it out below, it is pretty good for a five minute short…
The film was shot during the weekend of 16-18th April 2010. Chicane was an Auckland city finalist and won Best Cinematography and Best Use Of Line. It was also nominated for Best Actress and Sexiest Short. The short also stars: Anoushka Klaus as Micah, Jodie Hillock as Rachel and Jason Fitch as Sidney.
Amelia Reynolds (Tally in The Tribe series 3/Paradise Cafe’s Chloe) made a brief appearance in the short film Longdrummer, which was entered into the V 48HOURS Film Festival New Zealand. See if you can spot her in the short film below:
Can’t wait to spot Amelia? Try skipping to 2:37 to see her shuffle!
The short film made it into the Wellington finalists selection. Longdrummer was directed by Dean Hewison and featured the following cast: Richard Falkner, Sean McChensey, Jess Manins, Theo Gordon, Raquel Sims, Adrienne Roberts, Ethan Morrison, Thomas Raethel, Libby Butcher, Jarl Benzan, Emile de la Rey, Olivia Devitt, Lisa Devitt, Bonne Becconsall, Amelia Reynolds, Ash Dearnley, Nova Waretini-Hewison, Eugene Becconsall, Rebecca Leydon, Tim Gordon, Paul Brophy, Michelle McPartlin.
Meryl Cassie’s Facebook fan page has featured a hot set of pics from a recent photo shoot Meryl did with Auckland photographer Sally Ann. Click here to check out the pics. Meryl is definitely getting sexier with her age! What’s your secret Meryl?
Check out Beth Allen and Lee Donoghue in the awesome new trailer for Shortland Street’s Winter 2010 Season. It looks very dark, brooding and mysterious… Check it out:
Lee Donoghue (Spike in The Tribe 2) plays Hunter McKay in the medical soap drama and Beth Allen (The Tribe’s Amber) plays Dr. Brooke Freeman. Sally Martin is also in the video, she plays nurse Nicole Miller in Shortland Street, she had a brief role in The Tribe series 4 as Kandi (a girl paid to seduce Lex).
Beth Allen has recently been on stage in the Lily Richards & Thomas Sainsbury produced The Sinful Monologues. The production ran at Te Karanga Gallery in Auckland during 25th to 27th May 2010.
The Sinful Monologues cover the seven deadly sins, each monologue is written by a different writer. The TheatReView said the following of Beth Allen who performs the monologue Lilith, written by Lily Richards:
Lilith
Lilith gets to the fiery gates of Hell and has quite a lot to say for herself before she signs God’s contract. Beth Allen plays a feisty Lilith, in Lily Richards’ light-n-tasty treatise on the original battle of the sexes.
In another featured article The TheatReView talked about forth coming Beth Allen projects:
Beth is currently on the telly playing Brooke Freeman on Shortland Street, where she gets to wear killer heels and say nasty things. She’s producing and acting in The Vagina Monologues at The Basement Theatre in August and doing the same for a Christmas show written by Natalie Medlock and Dan Musgrove in December. She loves Lamebook.com, new stationery and poached pears.
So in August Beth Allen will be in the Vagina Monologues and in December looks like she’ll be doing more comedy with comedians Natalie Medlock and Dan Musgrove (they recently worked with Fleur).
With thanks to BethAllen.Webs for the news, where it appeared first. Check it out! [This post has been backdated]
Check out the new agency photos of Charley Murphy-Samau. He is definitely looking very ruggedly handsome indeed! I believe he is now 18…
New images appeared recently on his agency profile. Charley played, Charley (Mouse’s brother) in The Tribe series 4, he was about 10 years old at the time.
Dwayne Cameron (who was The Tribe’s Bray) is appearing in the 2010 film Curry Munchers. Dwayne will be playing the role of Connor, though he is not part of the core cast, he is featured in the movie.
The film is set in Auckland (it was filmed in Delhi [India] aswell as Auckland [New Zealand]), it is about the experiences and aspirations of Sidharth (Anand Naidu), a mid twenties migrant from Delhi who moves to Auckland. Settling into Kiwi life he wants a motorcycle like he had back in India. Going against his parents wishes Sid sets out to fulfil his dreams, yet finds obstacles in his path, including his feelings for the European woman Mary (Alison Titlaer).
The movie Curry Munchers is directed by Cristobal Araus Lobos and is made by Mahayana Films. It definitely sounds like an interesting film, would be great to see what Dwayne does in it.
Here’s some Dwayne Cameron news for his fans out there!
Earlier this month Dwayne Cameron was filming in a short film in Auckland called The Puzzle. The short film is directed by Danny Phillips, it is set in 2010 and is about a woman who loves doing jigsaw puzzles, but then one day ends up in a puzzle she’s working on – an 1880s house.
Jill Roberts who plays the lead role in the short film told The Timaru Herald about working on the short. She said about Dwayne Cameron: “Dwayne is an excellent actor, a very strong but subtle performer”.
More news… According to his updated agency profile, Dwayne has been in rehearsals for an up coming Thomas Sainsbury theatre production The Continental Monologues at the Te Karanga Gallery. Dwayne already featured in Thomas’ play Psychopaths earlier this year. I’m guessing The Continental Monologues will open to theatre audiences later this year.
Well, it has been over a year since we had news about The Tribe book Blood Of The Judas. (It’s actual title is ‘Blood Of The Judas’, not ‘The Blood Of Judas’ as mentioned in previous posts – find out why below…).
Blood Of The Judas is a book co-written by Harry Duffin (who worked with Raymond Thompson in developing The Tribe from an idea to a TV series) and David Richard Fox (one of the best storyline writers on The Tribe series). The book tells the story of the early days of the virus and it has had a rocky road getting it on to the shelves.
Here’s the latest update from it’s co-author David Richard Fox, courtesy of Tribe fan Scott. Scott asked about what the book was about, to which David said: “It’s called ‘Blood of the Judas’. In the screenplay and novel some adults are still alive, hiding out in the city. They are referred to as ‘Judases’ (because they have betrayed the young), and hunted down ruthlessly by the Locusts, Demon Dogs etc. But I can’t reveal much more!!”
- Sounds pretty chilling! The kids are tracking down adults and possibly killing/enslaving them?
On the status of where the book is at with publishers, David said:
We did get the novel read by a couple of publishers who said they liked it, but no deal was forthcoming unfortunately. No reflection on the work, they just didn’t think there was a big enough market for it.
We went back to them when the series was brought back onto Channel 5, but still no joy. The publishing world is a mystery to me since there is clearly a ready-made audience out there for this material, (as your continuing loyalty to the show demonstrates).
Damn you publishers!!! Maybe approaching an Australian publisher may work as the series has recently kicked off there? Or, okay this is sacrilegious of me, remove associations with The Tribe series on the book? You can still have Demon Dogs / Locos in it, but don’t mention The Tribe on the cover! And have it as a standalone novel? [Just a suggestion! - I want to read it already!!!]
More news, though it is most definitely early days, David Fox also told Scott:
There was some talk of a new Tribe series being made in the States, and if that comes off, the film and novel are both back in with a chance.
Of course it may take years before such a series if made (if it does). But could there be an American remake of The Tribe series? What do you think? Would you watch it? [I sure would!] And will Blood Of The Judas ever get released? [It better!]
