The Tribe : Series 1 On DVD : Australia

The Tribe Season 1 DVD abc Australia

Yay to Australian TV network ABC, without which I don’t think The Tribe revival wouldn’t have gotten fully ignited into motion.

The Tribe DVD abc Australia As this is a blog about The Tribe cast, lets face it, there is no better way to see them on your screens than in The Tribe! Series one of The Tribe will be released on DVD in Australia on 3rd March 2011 (pre-order it here!). The artwork was released on the ABC shop late January, with thanks to Josiah F (Jojo) for telling me. Also thanks to ABC for the larger pic of the DVD cover (it was larger but I had to scale it down to reduce the size).

But the question is, what do you think of the cover? I asked on Twitter and here are the responses I got: Continue reading…

Dwayne Cameron : Short Film : Pleroma

Pleroma by Dwayne Cameron

Dwayne Cameron will be directing another short film he has written this year, namely, Pleroma.

Pleroma, which is also written by Cameron, is decribed as a ‘Metaphysical Drama’. It has the following plot-line:
“After seven years in prison, tow truck driver Abraxas ‘Mach’ Machelvie finds that the universe works in mysterious ways, and life is not as it seems”.

You can keep up to date on this project by Dwayne Cameron on the Facebook page here.

Miriama Smith : Bag Search

Miriama Smith

Miriama SmithMiriama Smith played Moz in The Tribe series 3. As well as acting, she is known in New Zealand for hosting shows, parties and just being a fab celeb. In January she spoke to Emily Smith for Gloss magazine in the article ‘What’s in her handbag?’.

Find out about Miriama’s favourite products and what she’s currently reading in the article, online at Gloss’ website, here.

Antonia Prebble : On Tribe Cast Friendships

Antonia Prebble

Antonia Prebble (who played Trudy in The Tribe) came to fame in her homeland in the hit series Outrageous Fortune, playing Loretta West. In her recent cover feature interview with Next Magazine, Antonia spoke about working on The Tribe, it was quiet lovely what was said… Here is an extract from the article:

Then came The Tribe, a long-running children’s series filmed in Wellington. For the rest of her schooling life at Queen Margaret College, Antonia would spend her holidays filming the show that has been the foundation for a generation of new talent such as Shortland Street’s Beth Allen and Fleur Saville.

“I made best friends who I’m still really close to. They are all great friendships because we were together for five of our formative years and I will treasure them for the rest of my life”.

“I will treasure them for the rest of my life”, how can you not love her? :) Below the pages from the magazine.

Big thanks to the Antonia Prebble Facebook page (join it for the latest news!) and Servilles for putting the article pics online (I had to magnify the pics and type out The Tribe quote myself lol). Article was written by Kylie Bailey and photos by Craig Owen and featured in New Zealand’s Next magazine, January 2011 issue.

Paradise Cafe : Series 2 : Video Clips

Has Amelia Reynolds left Paradise Cafe? I’m not sure, but hopefully her character Chloe will be back.

Anyhows, here’s a clip of Amelia in Paradise Cafe, series 2 episode 1. In the episode her character Chloe realises she is returning to her ghost form and says her goodbye to her best friend Megan (played by Holly Bodimeade):

… I do hope she is back. Amelia played Tally in The Tribe series 3.

Here is a clip of Lara Custance who plays Abi. The clip also features Georgia Fabish as Natasha. In the scene Abi tries to convince Tai (Nua Finau) to do a job for her mum. She then has a weird conversation with Natasha. Natasha is trying slyly to get some information about the secret goings on in the island…

Lara and Georgia also featured together in an advert for Hil Cook’s Solution Buds. Hil Cook is the make-up artist who did the make-up and ghost effects in Paradise Cafe.

Also I’ve also put the opening sequence of the second series on youTube, watch it here.

Paradise Cafe is showing on CBBC on Monday to Thursday at 6.20pm. Episodes are also on BBC iPlayer. The series will be broadcast in New Zealand later this year.

Spartacus : Gods Of The Arena – One To Watch!

Gareth Williams as Vettius in Spartacus Gods Of The Arena

American fans of The Tribe, who don’t have a weak heart, should catch Spartacus : Gods Of The Arena which just began broadcasting on Starz. The new series, a prequel to Spartacus : Blood And Sand, features Jacob Tomuri (who was Luke in The Tribe series 3) doing stunt work. He can be clearly seen in episode one of Gods Of The Arena during a ‘flash-forward’ of the events that happened in Blood And Sand.

Jacob has been working on stunts in the series. The first episode definitely delivers on all extremities. The decapitation in the first arena match will make you freak!

Keep an eye out for Jacob in future episodes of Spartacus, hopefully we’ll see more of him. But if you would like another reason to watch the series, tune in to see Gareth Williams (pictured in the top of the post), he plays the young upstart Vettius in Gods Of The Arena. Gareth is currently dating Antonia Prebble (The Tribe’s Trudy) and his character Vettius is definitely interesting. I wouldn’t be suprised though if he meets a sticky end…

If you live in the UK you can get hold of Spartacus : Blood And Sand (featuring Jacob Tomuri) on DVD in May (more info here) it is currently out on DVD in the US. Continue reading…

Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi : Virtual Cowboys In The Tribe

Jemaine Clement in The Tribe

Horah for The Tribe’s Facebook page – for bringing to my attention that Jemaine Clement, of the awesomely popular New Zealand folk duo Flight Of The Conchords, appeared in The Tribe! + Thanks to Twitter, we’ve learnt that Taika Waititi (director of NZ films Eagle Vs. Shark & Boy and the US version of The Inbetweeners) is also in the scene!

Clement appeared in Series 4 : Episode 24 of The Tribe. I had to check the episode out myself, and I’ve made a video clip too. Jemaine is the cowboy on the right:

Jemaine Clement (playing ‘Virtual Cowboy No.2′) and Taika Waititi (‘Virtual Cowboy No.1′) appeared only in scenes with The Tribe’s Caleb Ross (Lex). In the storyline Ram (Tom Hern) and Ved (Dan Weekes) are showing a captured Lex what they can do with Reality Space.

The Tribe just went a wee bit more up in coolness-ness for me. It’s just a shame that Bret McKenzie (the other Flight Of The Conchord half) didn’t play the other cowboy.

Were you already aware of Jemaine being in The Tribe? If so, why didn’t you tell me?! ;D

The Tribe Revival By Cloud 9

The Tribe - Cloud 9

On Facebook, Cloud 9 have already started on their revival for The Tribe. Cloud 9 have created an Official ‘The Tribe’ page on the social networking site.

On the page Cloud 9 have posted a message that features news of up-coming Tribe related projects in the works, the full message is pasted below in case you can’t access Facebook.

I’ve found the most exciting news is that: “New novels being published in 2011 – including the eagerly anticipated story of what actually happened to all the Tribes and characters in the aftermath of their boat journey leaving the beloved mall (the subject of episode 52 in season 5)”.

To extend on that Cloud 9 also mention; “In addition there is a motion picture currently in development [I think this is the Blood Of The Judas screenplay] as well as discussions about a Tribe fashion line as well as the possibility of releasing new songs and music along with a range of other interesting and exciting material including never before seen behind the scenes footage and photographs”.

Join up to the Official The Tribe Facebook page to stay updated by Cloud 9 on the developments in reviving The Tribe. Also keep an eye out on fansites Sector 4, Tribe Heaven’s Forum and Tribe Universe for fandom works and info relating to The Tribe. Yay!
