New Zealand Shortland Street viewers had a treat on Monday 2nd August 2010 as a feature length episode of the show was broadcast on TVNZ. Well, here’s a treat for us Tribe fans, many thanks to the awesome A-List who were at the feature length episode’s premiere night at the Academy cinema in Auckland on 27th July 2010…
As you can see from the pics, former Shorty star Fleur Saville (Libby Jeffries/Tribe 5′s Ruby) joined the current Shortland Street cast at the cinema premiere on July 27th. Beth Allen (Dr. Brooke Freeman/Tribe’s Amber) unfortunately was not present (well we can’t find any pics of her sadly), but Ari Boyland (Brodie Kemp/Tribe’s KC), Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay/Tribe’s Spike) and Sally Martin (Nicole Miller/Tribe 4′s Kandy) were there.
Check out the full gallery at The A List for more of the other Shortland Street cast and friends.
Well, if you live in New Zealand, you could meet Meryl Cassie (who was Ebony in The Tribe), Ari Boyland (Tribe’s KC) and Lee Donoghue (Spike in The Tribe).
First up the sexy Shorty boys Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay) and Ari Boyland (Brodie Kemp). New Zealand’s Girlfriend Magazine are making dreams come true for fan girls as they have the guys on the GF Live tour!
Ari and Lee will be appearing on the GF Tour on Wednesday 7th July at Westfield Albany and Thursday 8th July at the Kiwi Trust Sylvia Park, both in Auckland. The guys are looking forward to signing autographs for their fans, go easy on them girls! More info on GF’s Facebook & Twitter. Let’s hope to see some pics of the hunks!
On Friday 9th July, also in Auckland, the gorgeous Meryl Cassie will be performing at RRV1 (Ruamoko Rangatahi Volume 1) at the Metro Theatre. Meryl was name-checked in an article about the event in The Aucklander. The event will be mix of performance art, electro-pop, R&B and funk.
Meryl has had to cancel this performance as on Saturday 10th July she will be performing the South African national anthem at the Tri Nations match between the South African Springboks and New Zealand’s All Blacks in Auckland. Check your TV listings to see if the match is showing in your country and you’ll be able to see Meryl perform live!
Earlier this week I uploaded some videos on youTube of Ari Boyland topless, in a toga, in Shortland Street. And he is looking damn fine buffed up! How could I not write a post and post them up here also? So here’s your weekend treat… There is a video and some pics for you.
Ari Boyland plays Brodie Kemp a mate of Hunter McKay, who is played by Lee Donoghue (aka Tribe’s Series 2 Spike), they feature in allot of scenes together as you can see below. Shame Lee kept his top on!
For an earlier scene of Ari in the toga, click here. I also uploaded a scene featuring Beth Allen (Shorty’s Dr. Brooke Freeman) from the same episode here. The audio is kinda out of sync in the vids, sorry. But hey, this episode aired on the 21st June, so it’s quiet recent stuff!
And just to add, please cast him in Spartacus!!! Want to see more of him in a state of undress *ahem* ;D
Earlier this month Ari Boyland appeared on New Zealand’s The Hub, talking about acting, working on Shortland Street as Brodie Kemp and his life loves, check it out, it is really good. Ari is definitely a friendly and down to earth lad… There’s mentions of The Tribe and Power Rangers in there too…
With an appearance on The Hub, could this mean that Ari Boyland will become a permanent fixture in New Zealand’s top medical drama? – Well, we hope so! We need a new Tribey to take the place of Fleur Saville!
Everybody loves a bad boy! And it seems so does TVNZ’s Shortland Street viewers, as Ari Boyland will be returning to the medical drama as the character Brodie Kemp. [Check out his previous shenanigans in the soap here].
In an article on Voxy, Ari Boyland (who was KC in The Tribe) speaks about returning to the soap and going to America and working at a school studying acting. There is also a cool mention about The Tribe, which was described as “serving as a launching pad for many local [New Zealand] actors including Beth Allen and Lee Donoghue”. Could it finally be that the series is being given the recognition it deserves in it’s homeland?!
Be sure to check out the article. It is pasted below or view it online at Voxy here.
Ari will make his reappearance in the soap in the week beginning Monday 14th June 2010. It’s unknown as of yet how long Brodie will be in the soap this time round… For screencaps of the previous appearance of Ari Boyland in Shortland Street (as well as Fleur Saville, Beth Allen and Lee Donoghue) check out this page @ Tribe-Cast.com. Ari Boyland (aka KC in The Tribe), took part in the V 48HOURS 2010 – a short film festival. In the short film Chicane, directed by Alastair Tye Samson, Ari Boyland plays the character Brent. Check it out below, it is pretty good for a five minute short…
The film was shot during the weekend of 16-18th April 2010. Chicane was an Auckland city finalist and won Best Cinematography and Best Use Of Line. It was also nominated for Best Actress and Sexiest Short. The short also stars: Anoushka Klaus as Micah, Jodie Hillock as Rachel and Jason Fitch as Sidney.
Ari Boyland (The Tribe’s wee KC) sure is all grown up now. Aside from battling evil in Power Rangers RPM, Ari joined fellow Tribe cast alumni in a week long appearance on New Zealand soap Shortland Street earlier this month.
His appearance saw him join the cast of Shorty as Brodie Kemp, a pal to Hunter McKay who is played by Lee Donoghue, who was Spike in The Tribe. Yay. Here’s a scene of the two of them together…
Ari Boyland will again be appearing on New Zealand screens in the TVNZ series Go Girls, where he will be reprising his role of Scott in the second series/season which started showing this month.
Huge thanks to Jebrill of Tribe-Cast.com for the info via twitter (follow her!). Image provided by the Shortland Street Facebook group (he sure is damn hot!). Oh and sorry for the poor quality/audio sync of the videos. My bad!
[edit] The picture featured in this post is actually from Go Girls. You can see Ari wearing the same shirt it in the trailer for Go Girls episode 3, series 2, ‘We Are Family’ here.
More news from Johnson & Laird, Ari Boyland will be reprising his role as Scott in New Zealand comedy/drama series Go Girls. Series 2 has already been filming, check him out as the character Scott in series 1 of Go Girls in the clip below…
Ari Boyland played KC in The Tribe series 1 to 5. Currently Ari can be seen in the US and UK as Flynn the Blue Ranger in the final Power Ranger series, Power Rangers RPM. Go Girls is made by South Pacific Pictures who also make, amongst other NZ hits, Outrageous Fortune.
Thanks to AriBoyland.com for the video clip, visit for more & screenshots!
The Power Rangers RPM star has put on a Irish Scottish accent for his role as Flynn, the Full Throttle – Blue Lion – Ranger! Check out the clip below…
Ari sure has grown up since those days as KC in The Tribe, but the Irish Scottish accent is so strong! – It is convincing. He’s done a good job.
The clip is from episode 1 of the series The Road To Corinth, which aired on 7th March 2009. You can find more clips and screenshots over at AriBoyland.com. I was going to stop posting about the series, but I just had to do it as the Irish accent was a suprise!
I’m a bit behind with the Power Rangers news (again!)… Well, here’s the trailer for R.P.M featuring Ari Boyland as the Blue Ranger, named Flynn (very Aussie sounding!).
The trailer looks a bit like a Matrix/Terminator/Stargate mash-up, before going into the usual Power Ranger fare… I think it’s fan-made? Though the quality isn’t high, Ari sure looks good!
For screencaps and more up to date stuff on Ari in Power Rangers R.P.M (Racing Performance Machines) keep an eye out on AriBoyland.com, as I won’t be posting much else on his role now… Unless there’s a few topless scenes – hee heeĀ (- wishful thinking!), there’ll be posts if there are any of The Tribe cast in guest roles this season though (- again wishful thinking!).
Have a good weekend, hope you like the new look on the blog! Also you can now subscribe by e-mail (on the right) to get updates of new postings, so you don’t have to visit here often, though I much love your visits! ; )
