Currently on a short break from filming Shortland Street, Beth Allen (Dr. Brooke Freeman) appeared on TVNZ’s Good Morning show on 20th Sptember to promote Basement Fest 2011, a festival of art, comedy and performance happening at the Basement Theatre (which is co-managed by Beth) in Auckland during the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The timing of the event is great as visitors for the Rugby tournament who are looking to sample cultural treats from NZ will be getting quality local entertainment. Aswell as being a treat for those who are bored of the Rugby already and looking for an escape!
In the interview Beth also talks about her and Charlie’s new arrival, a four legged friend, Ned the Pinscher/Poodle :) Check out the interview below or on TVNZ…

A full programme of events can be found on the Basement website. With thanks to Lotus for the info and BethAllen.Webs for uploading the vid on YouTube :)
Beth Allen, who plays Dr. Brooke Freeman in the hit NZ soap Shortland Street received a storyline many girls (and no doubt guys) would love, filming a scene with the hot Rugby lads of New Zealands All Blacks.
Check out the news story which features Beth Allen speaking on the scene. Video is by TVNZ:

The scene featured All Black players Jerome Kaino, Kevin Mealamu and Anthony Boric. It is due to broadcast on TVNZ on September 9th 2011. For more on Shortland Street, visit the official website and Facebook page. Header image is from The New Zealand Herald.
Beth Allen had a quick radio interview on New Zealand station George FM, in between filming Shortland Street, to talk about the New Zealand Film Festival and her movie pick for the event. You can hear the telephone interview below…

Beth recommended the movie Guilty Pleasures, about the Mills & Boons book series. Though she said she was interested in the book phenomenon out of curiousity and isn’t personally a reader of the book series.
The interview was on the radio on 21st July 2011.

One for fans of Shortland Street – the sexy cast of the hit New Zealand medical drama got together for a bi-annual photo shoot this year (see some of 2009′s here). The group shot looks amazing with a sort of artistic/painted feel to it, check it out in all it’s glory below…
We have also got hold of a few of the hot new single 2011 promo shots of the cast members who have appeared on The Tribe; Ari Boyland (Brodie Kemp – The Tribe’s KC), Beth Allen (Dr. Brooke Freeman – Tribe’s Amber/Eagle), Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay – Loco in Tribe 1, Spike in Tribe 2) and Sally Martin (Nurse Nicole Miller – Kandy in The Tribe 4). If you are having trouble finding them in the large pic, click here for the mini pic/guide of who’s who.
Power Ranger fans will also note that Ari Boyland was the Blue Lion Ranger – Flynn McAllistair – in Power Rangers RPM, Sally Martin played Blue Wind Ranger – Tori Hanson – in Power Rangers Ninja Storm (as well as guesting in Dino Thunder/Operation Overdrive) and Beth Allen has had guest spots in Power Rangers Operation Overdrive and Space Patrol Delta as Vella/Ally Samuels.
With thanks to South Pacific Pictures for the photos by resident Shortland Street photographer Jae Frew.
- The solo shot of Beth Allen was taken in 2010.
On Saturday 26th February 2011, Beth Allen got married to Charlie McDermott. The couple have been working together at the Basement Theatre, which is managed by Charlie, as well as creating their own production company, Royale Productions.
In an article exclusive to New Idea magazine, Beth and Charlie shared their wedding with readers. Their intimate wedding was held in Beth’s parents (Laraine and Jolyon) garden with friends and family in attendance. Amongst those who attended were Antonia Prebble, who was one of Beth’s bridesmaid. The ceremony was performed by Alan Spence (The article said: ‘They were married by Alan Spence, the father of one of Beth’s friends’, we are assuming that it is Victoria Spence’s father – though were not 100%sure).
Key quote from the article:
Beth shed a few tears listening to bridesmaid Antonia Prebble’s speech. She met the Outrageous Fortune star on the set of The Tribe in Wellington, at age 14.
‘She talked about how we first bonded over the fact we both had terrible hairstyles – mine bleached blonde with the intentional feature of 6ins roots, and hers a bright purple bob’
With special thanks to Emma H for the magazine scans and to Jebrill for info on the article. You can read more about the couple and their engagement/wedding plans over at BethAllen.Webs.

Unfortunately most of us are not in New Zealand and are unable to catch Beth Allen in her latest theatre production Toys. Fortunately the NZHerald have a few video clips of Beth in action, shown during an interview with comedy writers Dan Musgrove and Natalie Medlock who wrote the play…
The play by Royale Productions has received great reviews. TheatreReview.co.nz said the following on Beth’s performance: “Beth Allen as Barbie’s sidekick Share A Smile Becky was all-American exuberance and optimism and Allen and Angela Bloomfield are a powerful comic duo with great timing, pace and playfulness”.
With thanks to Jebrill of Tribe-Cast.com and BethAllen.Webs for the info. This post has been back-dated.

On December 7th 2010 Beth Allen attended the 30 year anniversary of wine makers No. 1 Family Estate. The party was held at Mollies hotel in Auckland. Check out theAlist for the pictures of the event.
