The Almighty Johnsons : Syfy UK

The Almighty Johnsons - SyFy UK - Antonia Prebble and Jessie Gurunathan

The Almighty Johnsons is currently showing on Syfy in the UK. The series featured Antonia Prebble (Trudy from The Tribe) and Jessie Gurunathan (who had guested in The Tribe as Dawn) in the series. Yay for a couple of episodes we’ll see former Tribies on UK TV!

The episode featuring Antonia Prebble as Sonja (Episode 3 – God’s Gift to Zebras) will broadcast tonight (16th February). The episode featuring Jessie Gurunathan as Leah (Episode 7 – Bad Things Happen) should be shown on March 15th.

Jessie G is no stranger music, she performs as part of The Velvet Sound Society as well as working behind the camera on music videos for the production company Fish ‘n’ Clips (she produced the video for P-Money’s Dance With You that featured Meryl Cassie).

Jessie G is planning to release her own EP later this year. Dub Me Crazy by Bulletproof feat. Jessie G is out now in New Zealand.

Jessie Gurunathan (who popped up in The Tribe 1 & 2 as Dawn) made her appearance on the hit new series The Almighty Johnsons, episode 7 season 1, on March 20th 2011.

In the episode, entitled ‘Bad Things Happen’, Jess plays the character Leah who teams up with Kylie (Kerry-Lee Dewing) and Sascha (Kowhai Wilkie) to get revenge on the womanizer Anders (Dean O’Gorman)… Here’s a small scene from the episode where she gives her story to Axl (Emmett Couling Skilton):

Jessie Gurunathan and her pal Reanin Johannink have managed to do what only a handful of youTubers have managed to do… They’ve got themselves an internet smash with a video, currently going viral, of themselves filming reactions they get as Jess passes strangers in Los Angeles!

Okay it’s no revelation of what goes on in the minds of those captured by the booty-cam, but the video has become a smash hit having featured on Yahoo, Huffington Post, news sites in the Netherlands, France, Taiwan… The girls have gone global. In a matter of days since the video was uploaded to the youTube account RearViewGirls, it has amassed millions of views.

The killer tune also hooking viewers in is Something Bigger, Something Better by Amanda Blank. According to her Twitter Jess and Reanin are overwhelmed by responses to their video from both the public and media organisations.

Jessie Gurunathan of course appeared in The Tribe as the minor character ‘Dawn’. Her up-coming project is an internet based fashion series with TVNZ, The Libra Design Project which begins on March 2nd. She recently featured on the cover of Sunday Star Times Magazine. Also she’s single guys, and I think she was featured as one of New Zealand’s most eligible batchelorettes. Read the description of the youTube video for more info ha!

Jessie Gurunathan is heading up a new online show in New Zealand for TVNZ, The Libra Design Project.

The online series is looking for five/six young, fresh designers to feature, they will compete for a chance to win a fashion show featuring their own original collection aswell as $1,000 cash and other great prizes. Making the experience interactive, viewers have the chance to vote for their favourite designer each week, and also win prizes.

TVNZ have dubbed Jessie as “A perfect fusion of high fashion and reality TV, The Libra Design Project is an ideal fit for Jessie, who is a recognised fashionista in her own right”, too right!

Meryl Cassie appears at the Variety Concert press conference at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland. Meryl Cassie attended the Variety Show Concert press conference at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland, held in the morning of the 11th November.

The main Variety Show event is at 7.30pm on 12th November at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. Where Meryl will be performing on stage. Jessie Gurunathan is also on the bill to perform (yay!). Also on stage to entertain will be Bonnie Tyler, Leo Sayer, John Paul Young, Jay Weston, Frankie Stevens, The Ladykillers, Shane Cortese, Tina Cross, Candy Lane and her Dancers, Stars from Dancing with the Stars, Tim Beveridge, Elizabeth Marvelly, The All New Howard Morrison Trio, Che Fu and 4DG and many others.

Profits from the event will be split equally between the Glenn Family Foundation and Variety charities. Money from the Glenn Family Foundation will go to work in India to prevent the sexual trading of young girls. – With thanks to Stuff for the info and pic.

Jessie Gurunathan : Pretty In Pink!

Jessie Gurunathan (who was Dawn in The Tribe 1 & 2) is helping out with the Dove Pink Star Walk – a charity event to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

On the evening of Saturday 2 October 2010 the 5km charity fun walk will take place in Auckland and will accumulate in a spectacular pink fireworks display! The walk is open to all, men, women and children.

Jessie Gurunathan wears Sera Lilly Jessie Gurunathan will be performing with The Velvet Sound Society at the event. Jess has also done an interview with KimberleyCrossman.com – the interview is quiet good, an interesting look at one of the many actors who have had brief performances in The Tribe.

The gorgeous pink flowery dress that Jess is wearing in the pic is by NZ designer Sera Lilly and will be given away on NZ TV’s Good Morning show.

Jess Gurunathan in The Almighty Johnsons!

Jessie Gurunathan, who was Dawn in The Tribe, has landed a role in The Almighty Johnsons. Which sees her return to acting – yay!

The 10 part series is currently being filmed in New Zealand. Jess will be playing ‘Leah’, a girlfriend of one of “The Almighty Johnsons”. Tweeting about the role Jess said, ” I play a raunchy crazy girl with revenge on my mind……stay tuned (;” – We will! – Sounds like a fun role she’ll be playing too.

Not that you’ll need another reason to watch it, but Antonia Prebble will also be appearing in The Almighty Johnsons. Antonia has a guest role as the character ‘Sonja’. The Almighty Johnsons is by some of the team behind Outrageous Fortune which starred Antonia as Loretta West.
