Jess Gurunathan in The Almighty Johnsons!

Jessie Gurunathan, who was Dawn in The Tribe, has landed a role in The Almighty Johnsons. Which sees her return to acting – yay!

The 10 part series is currently being filmed in New Zealand. Jess will be playing ‘Leah’, a girlfriend of one of “The Almighty Johnsons”. Tweeting about the role Jess said, ” I play a raunchy crazy girl with revenge on my mind……stay tuned (;” – We will! – Sounds like a fun role she’ll be playing too.

Not that you’ll need another reason to watch it, but Antonia Prebble will also be appearing in The Almighty Johnsons. Antonia has a guest role as the character ‘Sonja’. The Almighty Johnsons is by some of the team behind Outrageous Fortune which starred Antonia as Loretta West.

We love Jessie Gurunathan here at The Tribe cast! Though she only appeared in three episodes of The Tribe as ‘farm girl’ Dawn, she made a great impression on us!

Jess Gurunathan and Lincoln the pooch Latest news is that Jess is currently performing in music group The Velvet Sound Society. Their sound is describe as ‘Smooth, soulful lounge, old school jazz & stripped back contemporary pop’. You can have a listen yourself over at Jess’ blog Serendipity Is….

If you are in NZ you can catch Jess performing on Wednesday’s with the group at Sale St. (check here for the latest performance date). You can also get the latest word from Jess Gurunathan herself from her Twitter. She’s also pals with our other favourite New Zealander P-Money!

Miriama Smith : Blinging It : Out & About : In Auckland…

It’s Monday! So here’s some updates from theAlist

On July 16th Miriama Smith (aka The Tribe’s Moz) attended the opening of the New Zealand Jewellery Show in Auckland, Jessie Gurunathan was also pictured at the Jewellery Show.

She’s a busy lady Miriama, as on July 16th she was also snapped at Black and Bling held at Auckland hot spot Sale St.

Tribe Cast @ Cirque de Soleil's Dralion Premiere

Fleur Saville (Ruby in The Tribe / Libby Jeffries in Shortland Street) attended the opening night of Cirque de Soleil’s Dralion in Auckland. On theAlist there’s a picture of Fleur Saville with New Zealand actor/model Colin Mathura Jeffree and also a pic here with fellow Shorty star Anna Jullienne from Getty Images.

Also on theAlist is a pic of Jessie Gurunathan, who was Dawn in The Tribe, she is pictured with her partner Jay Reeve and also a pic of Robyn Malcolm, who was Ma’am in series 2′s Lex and Ryan pre-Tribe, pictured with her son Charley.

Looks like a fun night was had by all!

Jessie Gurunathan played Dawn in The Tribe, the farm girl ‘with attitude’, who appeared in only three episodes. In series one episode 32 she appeared alongside Vanessa Stacey, who had a guest appearance as Alice – the owner of a farm. In series two of The Tribe Vanessa Stacey became a member of the core cast and in episodes 6 and 7 Jess made her second appearance on the show. The character Dawn had alot to say, she was opinionated, had attitude and made an impression as she was one of the few characters on the series who were of a south asian descent…
