Tom Hern recently appeared in NZ’s Underbelly series playing the character Billy Kirby. His character was based in the UK… Check out the video clip…
With thanks to Kelsey for uploading the video on YouTube :)
Check out Tom Hern’s acting showreel below… Tom starred in The Tribe series 4 and 5 as head Techno Ram.
Before his role on The Tribe as Ram, Tom was a presenter on New Zealands kids show What Now TV (WNTV). Post filming the fourth series of The Tribe, Tom went on to play the lead role of Jess in Cloud 9′s series Revelations. Post The Tribe Tom Hern appeared in the core cast of Power Rangers Dino Thunder playing Devin Del Valle, the same series featured James Napier as the Red Power Ranger. Like other members of The Tribe cast Tom has had a stint on the medical soap Shortland Street where he played Baxter Cormack (2005-2007).
Fleur Saville will be appearing in Underbelly : Land of the Long Green Cloud as the character Sue Macpherson.
Set in the 1970′s, the New Zealand series is about the story of the real Mr Asia, Marty Johnstone (played by Dan Musgrove), and New Zealand’s first ever drug cartel, The Syndicate. The setting of the story has a true background, with parts fictionalised for the drama.
Also appearing in the series is Tom Hern as Billy Kirby. I am unsure what episodes Fleur and Tom appear in, but the series has already kicked of and is showing in New Zealand on TV3 on Wednesdays 9.30pm.
Sam Kelly, who played the Gaian leader Hawk in The Tribe 4-5, has been writing and directing short films over the past couple of years.
Sam’s latest film Lambs, which he wrote and directed, is co-produced by Tom Hern (The Tribe’s head Techno Ram). Tom Hern and James Napier’s production company Four Knights Film is also the studio behind the short film.
The short film follows the story of a young drug dealer who is being abused at home… To find out more on the short film, lend your support and keep updated, check out the Facebook page for it and give it a ‘Like’. You’ll find behind-the-scenes pics of both guys on the set of the production.
You can see other productions Sam Kelly has been involved in on his IMDB listing.
Tom Hern (The Tribe’s Ram) has been a busy guy lately…
Tom made an appearance at The Tribe online gathering, where he answered fan question, you can read a transcript of his chat on Tribeworld.com. In the interview he mentions they (himself and James Napier) are negotiating the journey of their movie I’m Not Harry Jenson to America.
In April this year Tom Hern shot the (short) film A Bend In The Road (producer: Gemma Freeman, writer/director: Rollo Wenlock, pictured on the right), playing the character Brett.
Finally to television, Tom is playing a role in the New Zealand TV series Underbelly NZ: The Land of the Long Green Cloud (Underbelly season 4, directed by Mike Smith/Ric Pellizzeri). Playing the role of Billy Kirby.

The Rogers Family Xmas is a hilarious comedy series of short clips released this festive season by Four Knights (4K) Film, the production company by Tom Hern and James Napier Robertson. The guys released the movie I’m Not Harry Jenson earlier this year and their latest offering is totally different! Check out one of the short films from The Roger’s Family Xmas:
Tom and James teamed up with Joel Herbert, a comedy theatre writer, who came to them with the concept of The Rogers Family Xmas. Tom Hern who is producing the series (and also appears in an episode as a caroler – I’m not saying which episode he is in, watch them all yourself lol) said the following on the series: “We are determined to get a finger into the youtube pie… Cinema is our number one priority but with the entertainment game changing so fast and so many rules being thrown out the window, I think we could end up seeing the funny live and the rest die. We don’t want to miss that revolution”.
Were behind you guys and are loving the series. The situations the characters (some of which are somewhat eccentric!) find themselves during their Christmas are hilarious. – Make sure you watch it!
The cast of the online series features: Karl Burnett (Shortland St, The Biggest Loser) as pervy, idiot ‘Uncle Levi.’ Adam Gardiner (Eagle vs Shark, Lovebirds), Rachael Blampied (I’m Not Harry Jenson, Go Girls), Hera Dunleavy, Simon Ward and Mick Innes (Jacquie Brown Diaries, The Insatiable Moon).
In the UK the channel Living TV will begin airing two episodes of Shortland Street every weekday from Monday 23 August 2010 at 15.00-16.00 (repeating at 10.00-11.00 the following day). Living will begin showing Shortland Street from it’s 2007 season.
The series will begin broadcasting from the episode that UK actor Adam Rickitt (Kieran Mitchell in Shorty) first appeared in the series, which is awesome news for Tribe fans. As Tom Hern (Baxter Cormack/Tribe’s Ram), Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay/Tribe’s Spike) and Fleur Saville (Libby Jeffries/Tribe’s Ruby) were all part of the core cast around this time. Also we’ll get to see Vicky Rodewyk (Gel from The Tribe) appearing in the series as Madison Lodge in the first week the series airs on Living!
It is a shame the series is on Living on not on the free channels on Freeview. Another thing to bear in mind is that Living showed Outrageous Fortune in the UK for one series only, so who knows how long they’ll stick wilth Shorty?
Either way, welcome back to the UK Shorty!
All you have to do is become Harry Jenson for one week on your Facebook account, wether it be in name or spirit. Click here for more details. I’m doing it and it is all good fun! ;D And hey, why not also mention tribeHeaven when you sign-up to your journey into Harry?!

The best H-Bomb vid will win a credit in the films DVD, have their H-Bomb video appear on the DVD as well as win a huge signed movie poster, signed by the cast and crew, so I guess that includes signings by Tom, James, Gareth Reeves, Ian Mune and other hot NZ talent. There’s also runner up prizes too…
