Check out this great video showing The Tribe cast behind the scenes on series 4 of The Tribe, if you live in Germany you are likely to have seen it in 2003 on Ki.Ka, but for non German residents, like myself, this was the first time I saw it! It is in German, but the footage is great!
The video was uploaded by TribeS7g17 (subscribe to them!). If you watch the whole of the video above (after those annoying blooper clips) you’ll see Meryl Cassie (Ebony) and James Napier (Jay) looking very coupley towards the ending of the vid!… Though I’m pretty sure in the interview they say they aren’t dating and are ‘good friends’.
A link to the vid was posted by Shabbs on tribeHeaven’s Twitter earlier this week. It is now also in The Tribe Video section – there’s a full description of all three parts of the Tribe Fever special there, part two is the one posted above. The rest of the footage was of The Tribe tour, most of it is exclusive to Ki.Ka from when the cast visited Germany.
Antonia Prebble (who was Trudy in The Tribe) will be on stage in Auckland in the musical Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. The production, by the Peach Theatre Company, will run from Thursday 3 June to Saturday 26th June 2010 at the Maidment Theatre.
From Maidment Theatre: “Sweeney Todd is a thrilling tale of vengeance and true love, featuring some of the finest music ever written for the theatre. Set in Victorian London it tells the infamous story of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street, who forms an enterprising business relationship with Mrs Lovett, the proprietor of the downstairs pie-shop.”
It’s unclear what role Antonia will play as yet, maybe a damsel in distress, but I hope she does a bit of singing! The talented cast of the production will also feature: Ross Girven, Lynda Milligan, Michael Hurst, Sophia Hawthorne, Paul Barrett, Ray Columbus, Jessie Cassin, Nic Kyle, Tyran Parke, Michael Lee Porter, David Aston, Cameron Douglas, Julian Wilson, Kyle Chuen, Jane Horder, Greg Padoa, Maria Satterfield, Catherine Reaburn and Tizane McEvoy.
With thanks to Trudy of MallRatsTwins for the news.
Fleur Saville will be appearing on stage in The Giant Face, a production which is part of the 2010 International New Zealand Comedy Festival. The production is by comedy duo Natalie Medlock and Dan Musgrove (thy also wrote Christ Almighty!). As well as Fleur ‘The Giant Face’ will co-star her former Shortland Street colleague (also buddy!) Harry McNaughton (Shorty’s Gerald Tippet). Check out the cool promo pictures of them having fun at the Shortland Street Facebook page.

Fleur Saville, who played Ruby in The Tribe, has been a long running star on New Zealands medical soap drama Shortland Street. Since 2005 Fleur has portrayed the character Libby Jeffries and on April 12th 2010 she made her exit from the TV soap. Check out the video of her final scene below with co-star Harry McNaughton (Gerald Tippet)…
Fleur’s character was much loved in the series, viewers saw her charachter develop on the show since she arrived in 2005. Libby Jeffries was the PA to Ferndale hospitals CEO, so was considered to be in the know about what was going on in the top level of the hospital. Before her role in Shortland Street, Fleur was already known in New Zealand as the character Eve from children’s series Being Eve which was filmed and broadcast in New Zealand in 2001 and 2002. After Being Eve ended Fleur landed the role of Ruby in The Tribe series, which is where we know her well from.
Fleur is currently set to hit the stage once again at 2010 International New Zealand Comedy Festival, in the show The Giant Face. (This post has been back dated).
Goodbye Libby.

You may remember the news about Reservoir Hill being nominated for a Digital Emmy, well the series won! Beth Chote (who played Lottie in The Tribe series 5) starred in the series as the lead character Beth Connolly. The series also had a guest appearance by Calen Maivas Paris (Mega in The Tribe 4 & 5).

According to Stuff.co.nz:
In a statement released shortly afterward, International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences president Bruce Paisner said New Zealand had made history by winning its first International Emmy.
Unfortunately Beth was not there at the ceremony, in Cannes – France, to pick up the award with the Reservoir Hill team. Creators Thomas Robins and David Stubbs were in attendance to pick up their award, I’m sure they are over the moon after the hard work that went into the series – congrats to the team on their landmark win!
Maybe this great news could see the production of a second series? Reservoir Hill, like The Tribe, was filmed in Wellington (around Porirua’s Aotea block) and featured local talent. Lucky New Zealand viewers can catch Reservoir Hill as a feature-length version on TV2 on 16th May at 12.00pm. The episodes can also still be seen online by New Zealand residents at TVNZ.

That title got your attention! Nothing rude here to be honest. The lovely Meryl Cassie will be back supporting hot pop/rap artist J-Dub with St. Janera on Thursday April 15th at Khuja in Auckland.
The best news about this gig is that Meryl will be performing some original songs for the 1st time, with support from the RudeBoys, could it be the tracks she’s been laying down in the studio?
The event flyer details/flyer are on the left, check it out and add the date to your diary. This is not the first time Meryl Cassie has worked with the RudeBoys, on March 20th she performed with the guys, more info & pics of Meryl at that gig is on the Rude Blog.
Don’t forget to check out the video of J-Dub, St. Janera and Meryl C in action at the Kingsland Festival last month, if you haven’t already.
On Thursday April 8th, Beth Allen appeared on the Good Morning show on TVNZ. Check the interview out below…

In the interview, amongst the topics discussed, Beth talks about her marriage preparations with Charlie McDermott (it’s going to be in February 2011 in Auckland – could it be on Valentine’s day?), life working on Shortland Street and her new hairdo (courtesy of Stephen Marr – she’s worth it!).
Beth Allen currently stars in Shortland Street as the character Dr. Brooke Freeman, she played Amber in The Tribe series. With thanks to BethAllen.webs for the info – make sure to check it out for more on the awesome Beth Allen!
Antonia Prebble (Outrageous Fortune’s Loretta West / Trudy from The Tribe) was the host/MC at a fashionable evening for the launch of new book NZ Fashion Design by Angela Lassigat. The event was held at the Grand Tearoom in Auckland’s Heritage Hotel on Thursday April 8th 2010.
As usual Antonia Prebble looked fab. Check out the bigger picture of her from online fashion zine Thread, who said, “the glamorous Antonia Prebble looking stunning in peach satin”. She is pictured in the picture with fashion designer James Dobson (of the label Jimmy D).
Antonia Prebble will be appearing on New Zealand screens this year in the sixth (and possibly final) series of Outrageous Fortune and in the TVNZ tele-movie Spies and Lies.
Big thanks to AntoniaPrebble.com for the news – check it out!
