Sad news today, Bob the dog who played Bob the dog in The Tribe passed away today. The news was announced on The Tribe’s Official Facebook page:

“We are so sorry to report that we have heard from HQ that Bob The Dog passed away today. He was special. A loyal and true friend of Ray and his family as well to all Tribal brothers and sisters and will be sadly missed. RIP Bob (: Click or leave a comment as a tribute. He loved the attention of all his fans”.

Raymond Thompson, who was owner of Bob said the following on his Facebook; “RIP Bob the dog. A true friend. I will miss you (:”

Bob was 16 years old. He lived his retirement out at Raymond Thompson’s winery, The Tirohana Estate at the home of Raymond Thompson’s daughter Saranne James.

Bob appeared in episode one of The Tribe as Patsy and Paul’s pet dog his last appearance in The Tribe was in episode 19, where his character died after accidently drinking some poison Ebony had planted intended for Tai-San. His funeral was held in the following episode (season 2, episode 20) and was the only animal character in The Tribe to receive a burial/funeral service.

A teaser trailer for the documentary film The Last Dogs Of Winter, which features Caleb Ross, has been uploaded online. Check it out below:

The footage of the polar bears with the dogs and amongst them Caleb and Brian Ladoon surviving in that environment looks amazing as well as dramatic. Definitely can’t wait to see more.

Meryl Cassie : Hyundai Code : Performance Videos

Meryl Cassie appeared as the entertainment of the night on Maori TV’s Hyundai Code show in New Zealand on Thursday 14th April 2011, episode 8 of season 7.

Big sis Megan Alatini was in the audience on the night as her husband, rugby player Pita Alatini, was also a main guest on the show talking about Japan and rugby.

Meryl was accompanied by dancers Anastasia Koltsova and Jia Peck for her performance. There’s also a video of Meryl opening the show with Keri Hilson & T.I’s ‘I Got Your Back Boy’ (click here) and she closed the show with a Beyonce and Rihanna medley of ‘Crazy In Love’ and ‘Only Girl In The World’ (click here). A religious apparition appeared in the Shortland Street studios in New Zealand… The Virgin Mary appeared in someone’s coffee mug!

Damon Andrews, who was The Guardian in The Tribe, and is currently a writer for Shortland Street, talked to TV reporter Alison Pough about reactions to the appearance of The Virgin Mary in a fellow Shortland Street writers coffee mug. Check him out below…

Megan, Pita Alatini visit Tirohana Estate

There’s a cute pic of Megan Alatini (Java in The Tribe 4 & 5) with her husband Pita when they made a visit to Tirohana Estate in Martinborough. The estate and vineyards are owned by Raymond Thompson and is the home of Bob the dog.

Amelia Reynolds with James Winter as Rose & Tim in BadjellyAmelia Reynolds has joined KidzStuff theatre, based in Wellington, and she features in their current production of Badjelly The Witch, where she plays the character Rose.

The play, set to entertain kids during their holidays has the following plot: “Tim and Rose set off to look for Lucy their cow, and meet some crazy characters along the way. Mudwiggle, Binklebonk and of course Badjelly, who wants to turn them into sausages! Can a mouse who was once a banana save them?”

Ari Boyland : Family Planning

Ari Boyland and family

He lost out to Nick Oswald as New Zealand’s Cleo bachelor of the year 2011, but that hasn’t stopped our favourite bachelor Ari Boyland from dreaming up his own family plans.

In NZ Woman’s Weekly magazine Ari talks about starting his own family as well as recently becoming an uncle to Ezra, his sister Ruth’s daughter. The article appeared around March 13th in the mag.

In the article Ari also talks about a period of uncertainty where he found it hard to find work. There’s also a mention of The Tribe, which he starred in at the age of 10 as KC, he’s 23 now, time sure has gone quick. He currently plays Brodie Kemp in Shortland Street.
