As many Tribe fans will know Megan Alatini (who played Java in The Tribe 4 & 5) is a resident of Japan, following her move there with her husband, rugby player Pita Alatini. The couple live in Kamaishi-Shi a city that was hit by the tsunami following the earthquake in Japan on Friday 11th March 2011.
Fortunately Megan, Pita, their two youngest children and Megan’s mother Barbara (who was visiting the couple) were evacuated from their family home post-earthquake. They have now been reported as being safe by Megan’s sister Monique Cassie who posted on her Facebook: “Just heard the best news ever! Megan and family are safe! Now I can breathe a sigh of relief!”.
Family in New Zealand had been worrying as they had lost word from Megan and Pita before the tsunami hit their region, after hearing they had been evacuated.
Younger sister Meryl Cassie also shared her relief and thanked all for their support given to her and family saying, “People we can all breathe a lil….Our family is ok after Japan’s Mass EarthQuake….We just cant wait to hear their voices now. We hope many more will receive the Great news we have. Thank you to all for your messages, support and Love.. Appreciate it Big time xx ”
Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all the families affected by this tragedy.
Megan and Pita’s story have featured in several newspaper articles on this Sunday in New Zealand, with thanks to SilentStrike of Tribe Inside for the following articles:

Megan Alatini (Java in The Tribe 4 & 5) performed the New Zealand national anthem “God Defend New Zealand” at the rugby Bledisloe Cup 2009 final in Tokyo, Japan, where the New Zealand All Blacks played against the Australian Wallabies.
The match took place on Friday October 31st 2009 (yesterday). Once again her singing must have done the job as the All Black’s won the match! Nice one! – She previously sang the anthem for the South African Springboks in the Tri-Nations final, they later went on to win also. She looks absolutely gorgeous in her black dress, very classy!
Sorry for the poor vid quality, one things for sure Megan is an awesome singer. With thanks to Mary for the info and TonyTai2009 for the video.

According to New Zealand sweetheart Megan Alatini she and her sisters Meryl and Monique Cassie, who are heading over to Tokyo, will perform at club FiftySeven in Roppongi on 30th October.
The following day on the 31st October she will be singing the New Zealand national anthem when NZ play Australia for the Bledisloe Cup at the Tokyo National Stadium.
And on 6th November, 17th November and the 8th of December Megan will be holding music workshops at the Kamaishi town hall (which is the area in Japan that she lives). She’ll be doing the music workshops with her daughter Tonica and sister Meryl Cassie. The info is from MeganAlatini.co.nz – Megan’s official site, you can also check Megan Alatini out on Facebook.
Her move to Japan has definitely not kept her back from entertaining the masses!
Check out the lovely pic of Megan Alatini performing the South African national anthem at the Rugby 2009 Tri-Nations final. She is dressed in a gorgeous traditional South African outfit. Her singing must have gone down a treat as the South African Sprinboks went on to win the trophy in their match against the New Zealand All Blacks.
Megan also performed with her sisters Monique and Meryl Cassie in the half time show. Sadly there are no pics (as yet!) of the Nubian Angelz. [edit] You can find out about the gorgeous tribal necklace Megan is wearing in the pic at Born To Bead, the piece designed by Lisa-Jane looks awesome up close!
An article on Throng has posted one of Megan Alatini’s Facebook updates where it is mentioned that Megan Alatini will sing the South African national anthem at the Tri Nations match they have against New Zealand. Not only that but she will also perform with her sisters Monique and Meryl Cassie during the half-time match entertainment and also post match entertainment. So if you have a chance the view the Rugby, skip the boring bits and check the girls out singing! The match is on Saturday 12th September 2009 in New Zealand.
All the best to the Angelz with their performance! Sadly I don’t have access to the channels broadcasting the match. But if you do and can take screenshots, please do get in touch!

Megan Alatini and Monique Cassie have been left defending their family after being falsely accused for assault. On the 1st April, a radio station ‘The Rock‘ received a call from a listener claiming that Megan Alatini was involved in a punch-up in New Zealand. It was surely an April Fool’s prank, as Megan was in Japan – where she currently resides…
However, after speaking to family members, it was revealed that their mother Barbara was verbally abused in the streets of NZ while she was accompanied by her daughter Monique Cassie. Just a case of a run in with a nutter… The full article with the accounts of both gals can be read below or here. Sorry for the old Siva pic – I can’t find a recent publicly made single image of Monique!

Megan Alatini (who played Java in series 4 & 5) recently did an interview with Mary TV, during a visit to New Zealand. It’s below…
Megan talks about living and moving in Japan, family, Pita’s rugby career, her career… The lass looks fabulous! Continue reading…

The sexy singer/actress star is featured in the P-Money (otherwise known as Peter Wadams) movie music video Angels… It follows on from her previous collab with the artist when she appeared in his music video for Everything, a 2008 No.1 dance track in New Zealand. In the “movie” Angels she plays the girlfriend to his lead character. Check out the trailer below. She’s fab!
Angels appears to be an actual movie, the trailer features scenes suggesting it is of a supernatural/horror nature and last year Meryl did mention she was filming a horror shoot… But P-Money’s blog states the trailer as, “A movie trailer concept for the P-Money recording ‘Angels’; Starring Peter Wadams, Meryl Cassie, Donald Holder & Dirk Peterson”… So it definitely makes it one ellaborate music video!
The release date for the music track ‘Angels’ is today in New Zealand (or you could say it was yesterday given the time difference!)… Marketing for the single involved putting the official looking ‘movie’ posters around New Zealand. Leaving the question, is there really going to be a P-Money flick?
Check out the official website for the ‘film’ Angels at: www.angelsthemovie.net where you can watch the trailer in high quality (perfect for screen capping!). More pics of Meryl and behind the scenes photos can be found on P-Money’s Bebo.
Megan Alatini, Monique and Meryl Cassie aka the sisterly singing trio Nubian Angelz are regular patrons of the Variety charity, having performed and attended several of their events.
The trio attended the charity’s Gala event that Variety held at Sky City, in Auckland, on May 12th. Images are from The A List.

The girls performed on stage for the attendees to the event held on December 1st 2007. The images are a few of the ones you can find on their website.
From the Whangarei Agricultural and Pastoral Socity’s website, “The Whangarei A&P Society’s annual show is one of the biggest events held in Northland. It brings town and country together in an exciting family atmosphere of equestrian events, dairy and beef competitions, sheep and a farmyard nursery, to mention just a few of the many attractions!”
