The QANTAS Film & Television Awards 2010

Beth Allen - QANTAS film and television awards 2010

This evening (well morning in the UK!) was the hottest awards night in New Zealand, it was the QANTAS Film and Television Awards held at Auckland’s Civic Theatre. Check out the cool snaps above of some of our favourite cast members who have been in The Tribe! Photos are © Throng, who gave a great commentary of the event via Twitter.

Beth Allen, Lee Donoghue (Shortland Streets Dr Brooke Freeman and Hunter McKay) and Antonia Prebble (Loretta West in Outrageous Fortune) were present at the ceremony. Don’t they all just look stunning. I’m loving Beth Allen’s dress, long and flowwy. Antonia Prebble’s sparkling party frock and Lee Donoghue is looking sharp in his suit!

Unfortunately Beth Allen did not win the New Idea People’s Choice award she was nominated for (it went to Paul Henry), but hey she’s the real winner in our books! Miriama Smith (Kaitangata Twitch) also lost out in the Best Supporting Actress award she was nominated for, it went to Lisa Chappell (The Cult).

Reservoir Hill : Series 2 Has Begun

Beth Page Chote in Reservoir Hill - Everyone Lies

The second series of New Zealand’s interactive drama Reservoir Hill, which stars Beth Page Chote in the lead role, has already kicked off! You may remember Beth Chote from her role as Lottie way back in series 5 of The Tribe, in Reservoir Hill she plays Beth Connolly.

The second season of Reservoir Hill, subheaded ‘Everyone Lies’ seems to be more darker… In series 1 [here's a spoiler peeps!] Beth (the character) found out that she really was ‘the bad girl’ Tara and that she had been brainwashed into believing that she was Beth Connolly. She was converted into Beth to reform her of her wicked ways, but it looks like the past will catch up on her as series 2 sees Beth move back in with her (Tara’s) original family…

If you live in New Zealand be sure to visit the official website and watch the episodes and interact with Beth! It’s all well and good for peeps living in New Zealand, but if you’re not in New Zealand, you can still check out some awesome RH stuff at Dreamspace. As a new part of the RH experience you can explore the dreams that Beth is having, get into her subconscious and see what is haunting her. The Dreamspace is pretty awesome and worth checking out!

Reservoir Hill Wins Emmy!

Reservoir Hill - Thomas Robins and David Stubbs receive Digital Emmy Award

You may remember the news about Reservoir Hill being nominated for a Digital Emmy, well the series won! According to

In a statement released shortly afterward, International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences president Bruce Paisner said New Zealand had made history by winning its first International Emmy.

Unfortunately Beth was not there at the ceremony, in Cannes – France, to pick up the award with the Reservoir Hill team. Creators Thomas Robins and David Stubbs were in attendance to pick up their award, I’m sure they are over the moon after the hard work that went into the series – congrats to the team on their landmark win!

Maybe this great news could see the production of a second series? Reservoir Hill, like The Tribe, was filmed in Wellington (around Porirua’s Aotea block) and featured local talent. Lucky New Zealand viewers can catch Reservoir Hill as a feature-length version on TV2 on 16th May at 12.00pm. The episodes can also still be seen online by New Zealand residents at TVNZ.

Calen Paris In Reservoir Hill?

Calen Paris in Reservoir Hill
I’m pretty sure it’s Calen Maiava Paris (The Tribe’s Mega) who cropped up to spook Beth Connolly (played by Beth Chote, Tribe 5′s Lottie) in episode 5 of Reservoir Hill. What do you think was it Calen? Judge for yourself in a video clip from the episode…
