It doesn’t seem so long ago I was writing a post about about Fleur Saville leaving Shortland Street, but now it looks like she’ll be heading back! Maybe for one last time? Read the article from New Zealands TV Guide for the goss!
Fleur will be returning as the character Libby Jeffries, her storyline will see her character getting married, but the name of groom has not been revealed as of yet… Check the article out for the goss! Many thanks to Emma H for providing the scans to the article. You can chat to Shortland Street fans at Ferndale Talk also visit the official site here.
Fleur Saville played Ruby in The Tribe series 5.

Many of us first came across Beth Allen as Amber in The Tribe. Our fondness of The Tribe, the storylines, tribal gear and the actors may have had some New Zealanders scratching their head wondering ‘What’s with all this Tribe malarky?’ – the series never caught on in it’s homeland.
To those in the know The Tribe was a cult TV series filmed in Wellington, New Zealand, and spanned a total of five seasons accumulating a total of 260 episodes. It had quiet a following in Europe, USA and currently in Australia.
In an interview with Nicola Russell, for The Sunday News, Beth talks about what attracted her to the up-coming theatre production The Vagina Monologues (which Beth is producing as well starring in), filming her current role as Dr. Brooke Freeman in Shortland Street and also talks about The Tribe…
Here’s some quotes from Beth Allen on The Tribe:
“It did really well. It’s inexplicable to me, because to me it was fine but it wasn’t an Emmy award-winning drama but it seemed to have found a little niche in its audiences and internationally it’s still huge.”
“They are the most dedicated fans. And it went on for years, we shot the first series and I thought, `well, that’s that’ and we shot it for another four years.”
Shortland Street publicist Rachael Keereweer is also quoted as saying, “I don’t know how they figure it out but the minute anyone from The Tribe turns up on Shortland Street they’ll email and ask for pictures”. (Lol!)
There are a few more Tribe references in the article by Nicola Russell. Read the full article here or below. More information on Beth Allen can be found on her official Facebook page and also at the fansite BethAllen.Webs.
The Vagina Monologues will be run at the Basement Theatre in Auckland, August 25th – September 11th 2010. To book tickets click here.
With thanks to Shorty fan Emma H for the article info. Continue reading…

Forget the fake Beth Allen web profiles dotted around the net as Beth has now made her own official page, particularly for her fans, to follow! – Yay!
Click here for Beth’s Official fan page on Facebook – there’s some awesome Shortland Street pics of her already up!
And just to clarify, I’m pretty sure this here is a fake profile for Beth.
Beth Allen currently stars in Shortland Street as Dr. Brooke Freeman, she is known internationally as The Tribe’s Amber as well as for her various appearances in the Power Ranger series. Beth is also involved in the theatre with credits in both producing and starring in productions.
Info thanks to Shortland Tweet.

In the UK the channel Living TV will begin airing two episodes of Shortland Street every weekday from Monday 23 August 2010 at 15.00-16.00 (repeating at 10.00-11.00 the following day). Living will begin showing Shortland Street from it’s 2007 season.
The series will begin broadcasting from the episode that UK actor Adam Rickitt (Kieran Mitchell in Shorty) first appeared in the series, which is awesome news for Tribe fans. As Tom Hern (Baxter Cormack/Tribe’s Ram), Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay/Tribe’s Spike) and Fleur Saville (Libby Jeffries/Tribe’s Ruby) were all part of the core cast around this time. Also we’ll get to see Vicky Rodewyk (Gel from The Tribe) appearing in the series as Madison Lodge in the first week the series airs on Living!
It is a shame the series is on Living on not on the free channels on Freeview. Another thing to bear in mind is that Living showed Outrageous Fortune in the UK for one series only, so who knows how long they’ll stick wilth Shorty?
Either way, welcome back to the UK Shorty!
With thanks to Scott for the info via Twitter.

New Zealand Shortland Street viewers had a treat on Monday 2nd August 2010 as a feature length episode of the show was broadcast on TVNZ. Well, here’s a treat for us Tribe fans, many thanks to the awesome A-List who were at the feature length episode’s premiere night at the Academy cinema in Auckland on 27th July 2010…
As you can see from the pics, former Shorty star Fleur Saville (Libby Jeffries/Tribe 5′s Ruby) joined the current Shortland Street cast at the cinema premiere on July 27th. Beth Allen (Dr. Brooke Freeman/Tribe’s Amber) unfortunately was not present (well we can’t find any pics of her sadly), but Ari Boyland (Brodie Kemp/Tribe’s KC), Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay/Tribe’s Spike) and Sally Martin (Nicole Miller/Tribe 4′s Kandy) were there.
Check out the full gallery at The A List for more of the other Shortland Street cast and friends.
Oh and we are totally loving the the photos of Ari Boyland in his glasses! There are more pics of him on the Shortland Street Facebook! When asked by tribeHeaven, the Shorty Street peeps told us Ari does wear glasses in real life, yum!
As for the feature length episode of Shorty, it had the highest ratings for a Shortland Street episode for the past 10 years, according to TVNZ. Yay!

This week it came to our attention that the awesome Damon Andrews has been working on Shortland Street as a series writer! As part of the talented writing team of the New Zealand drama, Damon gets involved in writing the storylines for the Shorty characters. Doing a google search, I’ve found his writing credits in Shorty date back to 2007.
Sadly we don’t see him on screen, and we wouldn’t have known about it until we saw this video, where Damon talks about Shortland Streets feature length episode (broadcasting on Monday in NZ):

Ooh do not trust that charming smile people, ’tis really The Guardian! Run people! Run!
With thanks to Jebrill and tribeHeaven’s Twittering.

Earlier this year Fleur Saville left her role as, the much loved, Libby Jeffries in Shortland Street. New Zealands Woman’s Weekly spoke to her about her final day on set. Unfortunately for Fleur the last day of filming was doubly emotional as her beloved cat Miso had passed away hours before she was on set…
If you can’t read the text you can read the article, by Michelle Coursey, online at the Woman’s Weekly website. With many thanks to Emma H for the scans and informing us of the article :)
Fleur Saville played Ruby in series 5 of The Tribe. You can read more about Fleur’s departure from Shortland Street and view video clips here. Who knows, maybe one day Libby will return to Ferndale?

A recent article in New Zealand’s New Idea magazine featured Beth Allen talking about her own experience with cancer.

The news comes as her Shortland Street character Dr. Brook Freeman faces a similar situation on the TV drama. In the article (left) Beth talks about how it has affected her and how she involved her personal cancer scare with her character in Shorty St. |
With many thanks to Emma H for sharing the article scans.

(This post has been back dated).

Well, if you live in New Zealand, you could meet Meryl Cassie (who was Ebony in The Tribe), Ari Boyland (Tribe’s KC) and Lee Donoghue (Spike in The Tribe).
First up the sexy Shorty boys Lee Donoghue (Hunter McKay) and Ari Boyland (Brodie Kemp). New Zealand’s Girlfriend Magazine are making dreams come true for fan girls as they have the guys on the GF Live tour!
Ari and Lee will be appearing on the GF Tour on Wednesday 7th July at Westfield Albany and Thursday 8th July at the Kiwi Trust Sylvia Park, both in Auckland. The guys are looking forward to signing autographs for their fans, go easy on them girls! More info on GF’s Facebook & Twitter. Let’s hope to see some pics of the hunks!
On Friday 9th July, also in Auckland, the gorgeous Meryl Cassie will be performing at RRV1 (Ruamoko Rangatahi Volume 1) at the Metro Theatre. Meryl was name-checked in an article about the event in The Aucklander. The event will be mix of performance art, electro-pop, R&B and funk.
Meryl has had to cancel this performance as on Saturday 10th July she will be performing the South African national anthem at the Tri Nations match between the South African Springboks and New Zealand’s All Blacks in Auckland. Check your TV listings to see if the match is showing in your country and you’ll be able to see Meryl perform live!
I (still) wish I was in New Zealand though.

Earlier this week I uploaded some videos on youTube of Ari Boyland topless, in a toga, in Shortland Street. And he is looking damn fine buffed up! How could I not write a post and post them up here also? So here’s your weekend treat… There is a video and some pics for you.
Ari Boyland plays Brodie Kemp a mate of Hunter McKay, who is played by Lee Donoghue (aka Tribe’s Series 2 Spike), they feature in allot of scenes together as you can see below. Shame Lee kept his top on!

For an earlier scene of Ari in the toga, click here. I also uploaded a scene featuring Beth Allen (Shorty’s Dr. Brooke Freeman) from the same episode here. The audio is kinda out of sync in the vids, sorry. But hey, this episode aired on the 21st June, so it’s quiet recent stuff!
And just to add, please cast him in Spartacus!!! Want to see more of him in a state of undress *ahem* ;D
