 Antonia Prebble stars in the movie The Cure, which is currently in its final stages of production. David Gould, the man behind the movie has been signed to an American agency. Michelle Ang will appear as Kimmie, a mother who’s daughter is brutally assualted, in new BBC drama Top Of The Lake this Autumn on BBC2. Top Of The Lake was filmed in New Zealand and features American actress Holly Hunter in the lead role. The multi-part drama also stars Lucy Lawless (who Michelle worked with on Xena) and Robyn Malcolm (who was Ma’am in series 2 of The Tribe and Michelle co-starred with her in NZ drama Outrageous Fortune).
 
MTV’s Underemployed premieres on October 16th in America. It’s worth checking out for Michelle Ang who plays Sophia, one of the lead characters, who finds herself working at Donut Girl a doughnut store. According to the official Underemployed website, Sophia has plans of becoming the next Great American Novelist, she graduated from college with high expectations for herself and her friends… Check out the trailer voiced by Michelle Ang’s Sophia, it actually gives quiet alot about her character away… Back in February 2011 we had the news Michelle Ang was in the pilot episode for the series, so well done on the show getting a full season!  “Life is alchemy. The movie features music by Golden Globe winning singer/song writer Lisa Gerrard. Lisa’s soundtrack credits include Gladiator, Heat (with Al Pacino and Robert Deniro), Man On Fire and Ali.

Michelle Ang is definitely in Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (Big Mommas House 3), I’ve spotted her in the trailer (watch it below!), she’s pictured left in the screenshot above. In the film, starring Martin Lawrence and Brandon T. Jackson, Michelle Ang plays Mia.  I have to say her appearance in the film is the only reason I’ll watch it. And thank god it’s not Big Mommas 3D – that would be disturbing!  In 2011 new series The Almighty Johnsons drops on TVNZ. Antonia Prebble will be featuring in the series in the guest role of Sonja. You can check her out in the trailer below – were loving her specs!  There’s also a bit of girl on girl action too as it looks like Antonia’s character gets a lesbian kiss… The trailer originally aired on TV3 during the Outrageous Fortune final episode on Tuesday 9th November.

Judging from the trailer the movie looks pretty intense and although they had a small budget it looks like it is a high quality production. The film is by James Robertson Napier and the production by Tom Hern. Their website though, ImNotHarryJenson.com, currently seems to redirect to the film premiere information page on the New Zealand film festival site. The 2008 short film Take 3 (aka Auditions I Have Known) by director Roseanne Liang has had an excerpt put online, check it out below. It stars Michelle Ang (Tribe’s Tai-San / Neighbours’ Lori Lee / Xena’s Akemi) as the character Melanie Shum… The rest of the cast are as follows: Li Ming Hu as Lisa Fong, Katlyn Wong as Kaylee Hing, Justine Hunter as Casting Director (Doctor), Michael Lowe as Casting Director (Ninja), Toby Sharpe as Casting Director (Schoolgirl) and Richard Thompson as Casting Director (Bootygirls).
