The Fabulous Life Of Nick Fenton!

Lol, found an article published in The Northland School Newsletter, Nick who was pictured in the net, plays the character called Sky. He isn’t Bray!?! Oh well.

From Northland School’s Newsletter. 15th June 2005 (yes that old!):

STUDENT NEWS
On Sunday, I interviewed one of our students who is away at Cloud 9 Studios in Lower Hutt filming a children’s television series called “The New Tomorrow”.

He is very busy at the moment, and usually wakes up at about 6:30am and gets picked up around 8:00-8:30. Before filming each scene, they [the characters] have to rehearse each scene three times, and the time it takes will depend on how long each scene is. The filming for each scene takes about half an hour to an hour, and the number of shots used depends on how many characters are in the scene.

Nick learns his lines very easily, and spends time at home going through them with his mum or dad, the day before he films them. His character’s name is Sky, and he is the main character in the series. His make-up is quite cool, but it hurts a lot at the start, even though the pain goes away later on. When he is not required on set, he is doing school work with a tutor in a caravan that’s been turned into a school room. He comes home each day at no earlier than 5:00, but usually around 6:30pm.

However, he is not out there every day. Some days he will be back at school the whole day, some days he will leave around lunch time. He will be back at school permanently around about the start of September. He is really enjoying this experience and it’s a good opportunity for him to show his talent in movie production, and who knows where he might end up? Look out Peter Jackson!

Uhm, just don’t confuse him with ‘that chick from Neighbours’… Well OK it’s not likely… Anyway, Tribeworld have said (Monday 5th September) it’s the final week of filming!!! Which probably means as you read this, filming has finished.

The New Tomorrow Official Site should open this month and the series start next month or so in the UK and Australia.

From Tribeworld’s Newsletter…

From Tribeworld’s Tribe Newsletter, 26th August 2005:

A young cast member unfortunately missed out on their school’s talent show so he brought his little performance to set. He was dressed up as a little pink marshmallow and had a delightful song to go with it! Everyone loved it! And he still got to do his performance even if it wasn’t at school!

A new Tribe also joined the cast this week and there were quite a few stunts earlier in the week including some stunts using a lasso. This was couriered especially for a scene – can’t wait to see what that involved!

From Tribeworld, 22nd August 2005:

The New Tomorrow – Shooting Continues!
Last week all the cast and their families and the crew gathered together to watch the first two episodes. The screening was held in a theatre on a huge screen and everyone loved it! There was lots of cheering for each of the cast and everyone had a great time!

We also had a couple of Tribe fans visit the studios for a tour. One was from Germany and the other from Essex in the UK. They got a sneak peak of the filming and the behind the scenes action!

News Round Up…

From the Hutt International Boys School 20th June 2005:

Cloud 9 Production ‘The New Tomorrow’A number of our students are involved in filming with the Cloud 9 Production, “The New Tomorrow”. Cameron Wakefield won a major role (he is working hard on the set full time for 15weeks), and speaking and continuity roles were awarded to Joshua Tukua, Andrew Miller and Andrew Brown. Students from 8B have been heavily involved in the filming of stage one which isalready selling internationally and are about to launch into stage 2 of this series. Congratulations to these boys – they have put us on the map and are highly regarded by the producers as being natural and creative young actors.

From Tribeworld’s Newsletter 29th July 2005:

We can’t believe there are only a few weeks to go! There was a big production meeting today to discuss the third block which is episodes 16-20. The production meeting involves going through all the sets, scenes and locations with all the heads of department. They run through how many extra’s are needed on which days and schedule which days will be shot at which location. They also discuss animal wrangling requirements and we can tell you there is a pony in the next block and there were some gorgeous little chicks on set this week.

From Tribeworld News 25th July 2005:

We did a parallel day last Thursday. That means that there were two crews out shooting in two different locations. There were also lots of extra’s required. Last week was also a big week for stunts. The cast practiced with the stunt coordinator the day before and then again just before the scene. There were some great camera angles to capture the action and they looked great!

That’s all.

The New Tomorrow – Shooting continues!

From Tribeworld Newsletter:

Filming is racing along and we’re already into the third week of shooting. The first two weeks were filmed on location and this week is our first week shooting in the studio.

(Nothing new on New Tomorrow)

Cool news:

Channel FIVE is repeating Series 5! Tribe 5 has been re-edited into 13 one hour episodes and will start broadcasting at 11am on Saturday 2nd July. Don’t miss it!!

Weird thing is alot of scenes maybe cut out from the series if they’re making it into 13 one hour episodes. They could mean the episodes are an hour if you take the break/adverts away when it shown. Making them 1 and a half hours long… Either way, surely there’s a mistake somewhere? Check this out… From a post on eyeboards by JH1.

The time according to five is 9.55am. Series 5 will be in 13 one hour episodes. Well it will be interested to see how they edit it… Maybe they will do us a favour and remove Gel from the series (I’m kidding!!!).

*fetches calendar* if shown weekly, as 13 eps, and New Tomorrow was to start straight after the repeats… The New Tomorrow would be shown on Saturday 1st October. God I am sad aren’t I…

Filming Of Cloud 9’s New Tomorrow…

Tribeworld Fanclub Newsletter:

The first shoot week has been amazing! The weather forecast was for terrible weather but we’ve been unbelievably lucky in that the worst of the weather has been in the early morning and all scenes have been able to be completed on schedule. The new cast are doing amazingly well and are all very excited about their new roles. The whole week was location shooting at our backlot, Whiteman’s Valley and also at a lovely park reserve in Moores Valley. We’ll be starting shortly on a new website and fanclub for the new series which will be all online and easy to use. This will take a few weeks to put together but we’ll have news soon on when it might be online.

Cool, a new site to look forward to :) I wonder if it’ll be integrated with Tribeworld?

The New Tomorrow To Be Filmed In New Zealand?!?!

Oh er, according to a new article out today, The New Tomorrow will be filmed in New Zealand, not Australia!

Mr Raymond Thompson has said, according to the article, the main reason The New Tomorrow was being filmed in Lower Hutt (New Zealand) and not Brisbane (Australia) was because he was spending a lot of time in Wellington and at a Martinborough vineyard he had bought.

It’s alright for some! ;)
